How to obtain confidence for a job interview

One of the cardinal things that you need during the consultation is self-confidence. self-confidence in your abilities, self-confidence in your fit for the position, self-confidence that the company is making an adept choice when they consult you for this position.
  • First of all set your positive intention. Imagine yourself successfully going to and through this audience. See the outcome as positive.

  • Next research on the function and the Company.  Know enough about them and what they are seeking for to think about the questions they may ask and your answers.  Check the prerequisites of the position and how well you conform to it.
  • List your strengths and look after good cases stressing out your strengths. List at least achievements that you can narrate.
  • Wear smart clothes that feel comfortable.  The clothes should be appropriate to the position. What are you supposed to wear in that position?

  • Practice sitting in front of associates or relatives. Sounds comical? Some of us might twiddle with our fingers, touch our hair, scratch our ear or do other unconscious gestures which will again give a less than confident impression to your hiring responsible. Instead, sit up correct, back unbent, legs together and not open with your hands in your lap. Eyes forward and looking towards the interviewer while somewhat smiling and head up.

  • Practice your introduction out loud at least twice. This will enable you to adjust the message and gives you the hoped intonations and timing and makes it sound fluent. Your introduction is a very important part of the meeting.

  • Speak slowly, distinctly and try to use full and common words without abbreviations. The words used should be appropriate to the “job-knowledge” of the questioner. Being an ICT-candidate you should align your talk and not come out with “Chinese ICT-words”. Do not blaspheme, ever, even if the hiring responsible does!

  • If you are presenting to more than one person and seeking at the different faces makes you gulp, grip a spot behind the group and above the heads (a well-known trick employed by performers). So it seems that you are looking at the persons but you don't focus upon them and therefore concentrate on what you think they might be thinking. This is in vain because it’s your evaluation and not what they are …

  • If you have an interview with a number of people obtain the names and functions of the inquirers. Learn these names in advance and while responding to a question use| the surname of the one who is interviewing you. I’m sure that s/he will be moved. Compared to your competitors who may not address the interviewers with their surname, you will take a vast lead.

  • Non-verbal Communication. During the consultation smile, make eye-contact as and when you can, interact with the other people on an equal level, they are just like you, timid of their own capabilities, performances, possibly even uneasy about undergoing an audience|questioning you}.

  • Be open. Be appealing. Position yourself as a professional whilst viewing the questioner as a forthcoming person who is going to like you.
